Comprehensive elder law care for you and your loved ones
Cacace, Tusch & Santagata takes great care to help you and your loved ones plan for the possibility of nursing home stays and other situations. Our attorneys are dedicated to helping you protect your loved ones, protect your assets and prevent your family from unnecessary distress regarding end of life decisions. Attorney Dick Fisher is a member of NAELA (National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys) and is on the Executive Committee of the Connecticut Bar Association Elder Law Section. Our firm can meet your elder law needs, such as:
- Long term care planning - Effective long term planning can protect your assets from the rising costs of nursing homes and long term care facilities. Effective long term planning can also ensure that a spouse who stays in the couple's home is not forced into financial distress. Our firm takes the appropriate measures to help our clients qualify for public benefits such as Medicare and Medicaid. Many clients who have substantial resources benefit from the establishment of trusts. We assist clients throughout all stages of the Medicare or Medicaid application process.
- Medical directives - Medical directives such as living wills and appointments of health care representatives can provide direction for certain medical situations. Living wills involve end of life situations; a health care representative is empowered to make decisions when the patient is incapacitated or otherwise unable to make such decisions.
- Conservatorships - Do you have a loved one who has dementia, Alzheimer's or is incapacitated and unable to make decisions involving finances or personal wellbeing? If so, you may want to establish a conservatorship to care for your loved one. Conservatorship can be placed over an individual's finances and welfare, and the same person does not need to be named as both.
- Estate planning and probate - We offer complete estate planning and probate services that include wills, trusts, estate administration, powers of attorney, probate litigation and assistance with reverse mortgages.
